When using Roller Conveyor in high temperature environment, it is very important to choose the right materials and lubricants to ensure the normal operation of the equipment, extend the service life and avoid damage caused by high temperature.
In high temperature environment, the material of the roller conveyor must have good high temperature resistance to cope with the impact of high temperature on metals, plastics and other materials. Common high temperature resistant material selection is as follows:
Stainless steel (such as 304, 316, etc.) has good high temperature resistance and is particularly suitable for high temperature and corrosive environments. It can not only withstand high temperatures, but also has strong oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance.High temperature alloy steel can withstand higher temperatures and is suitable for extreme high temperature environments (such as above 400°C), especially suitable for conveying under heavy load and high temperature conditions. When selecting, it is necessary to ensure that the selected material can withstand long-term high temperature loads based on the maximum operating temperature and heat resistance requirements of the conveyor.
For some light loads or non-metallic parts, high temperature resistant plastics can be selected as the material of the roller or roller cover.
Polyimide (PI) plastic has very high heat resistance and can be used in environments above 300°C.Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has good heat resistance and chemical resistance and is suitable for use in environments with high temperatures and chemical exposure.Polycarbonate (PC) is suitable for environments with temperatures ranging from 100°C to 150°C and has good strength and impact resistance.
Some materials can be coated with high-temperature resistant coatings to enhance temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. For example:
Thermal spray coatings: such as ceramic coatings or metal coatings, can significantly improve the high-temperature resistance of the roller surface.
High-temperature resistant coatings: such as heat-resistant paints and thermal protective coatings, can effectively protect the roller and its components from thermal damage.
Lubricants play a role in reducing friction, reducing wear, improving operating stability and extending the life of the roller in high-temperature environments. Choosing the right lubricant is very critical. The following are some common types of high-temperature lubricants:
Synthetic lubricants: such as polyalphaolefin (PAO) oils and ester oils, have excellent thermal stability, can maintain good lubrication performance at high temperatures, and avoid volatilization or decomposition at extreme temperatures. Suitable for environments with temperatures above 100°C, even up to 250°C.
Silicone oil: Silicone-based lubricants have a wide temperature resistance range and are often used in high temperature environments of 200°C to 300°C. They have good fluidity and stability.
Petroleum-based high temperature lubricants: Suitable for high temperature environments below 300°C, especially for equipment with light loads.Lithium-based greases have good stability at high temperatures and are widely used in environments with temperatures between 120°C and 160°C.Calcium-based greases are usually used in high temperature and high humidity environments. They have strong high temperature resistance and are suitable for applications with heavier loads.
Aluminum-based greases can maintain good adhesion and lubrication in high temperature environments and are suitable for equipment with temperatures ranging from 150°C to 200°C.
Molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) and graphite solid lubricants are particularly effective in high temperature environments and are suitable for high temperature and heavy load environments. They are often used in metal-to-metal friction areas (such as bearings and rollers).
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coated solid lubricants can provide long-lasting lubrication, especially for roller conveyor systems running at high temperatures and low speeds.
Consider the following factors when selecting lubricants:
Make sure that the operating temperature of the lubricant is higher than the working environment temperature of the conveyor. Select a lubricant with good compressive resistance according to the load requirements of the conveyor. At high temperatures, the lubricant may oxidize or decompose, so it is very important to select a lubricant with good oxidation resistance. At high temperatures, the viscosity of the lubricating oil may decrease, so it is necessary to select a lubricant with suitable viscosity to ensure the lubrication effect.
In a high temperature environment, the lubricant may be affected by heat, resulting in loss of lubrication effect or deterioration. Therefore, it is necessary to check the status of the lubricant regularly and replace it in time. High temperature environments may cause dirt or lubricant residue to accumulate on the surface of the roller, affecting the normal operation of the roller. Clean the equipment regularly to keep the surface of the roller clean and reduce friction. During long-term high-temperature use, the high-temperature resistant materials of the equipment may degrade, so it is necessary to regularly check the condition of the rollers, bearings and other components, and replace damaged or worn parts in time.
By reasonably selecting materials and lubricants and formulating scientific maintenance plans, the high-temperature resistance of the roller conveyor can be greatly improved and the service life of the equipment can be extended.
